Repost from myspace blog
I feel the need to explain my post "life f** sucks".
Those who know us well know we have been financially screwed. This slowly got worse over the last two years.
Well Joe, my hubby, decided to try and help us out be looking for a part time job outside the house. But it HAS to be one easy on his very bad back.
He walked into a local retail store here (well it’s a national chain actually) and got an interview THAT DAY. The manager was so impressed that Joe knew to dress up for job hunting and that Joe is an ex carpenter. He was told to go for a drug test and that the manager would send his paperwork to "Corp" for processing.
We waited for over TWO WEEKS and Joe calls him AGAIN and he tells Joe "Yah, don’t worry, you got the job, but corporate is taking forever to finish the paperwork". Couple days later, the manager calls and says corporate told him not to hire Joe and didn’t give him a reason (and no, it was NOT the drug test LOL). We figure it was our bad credit that killed that job. So basically Joe waited over two weeks for a job he didn’t get. We are back to square one again.
Why is it so hard to find a part time, easy on the back job?? Guess hiring young irresponsible teens is less of a risk then someone who had money troubles due to disability.
Joe has a degree btw...ironic. All we need to survive is a lousy part time, easy on the back job. We don’t even care if its minimum wage. Being in Subsidized housing is a true blessing even though we have to jump through many hoops and have to report any little change in our life. Sometimes it feels like we are now being babysat. Guess me and Joe are not used to being told what to do so much. But after this TERRIBLE past two years, it’s hard to have someone telling you to do things a way you are not used to OR LOOSE YOUR HOME.
So in a nutshell, we went from being independent, fairly healthy, educated adults to being told we can’t work as a sales associate part time for minimum wage because they think we are not responsible. The ironic part is me and Joe BOTH more than likely has more education than the guy NOT hiring him. What a crappy last two years this has been.
Of course this wouldn’t be happening if SSI would NOT deny everyone would apply. It will take Joe OVER two years now to even go to court. My application was also denied, though we knew it would. Weird thing there though is I have a medical condition that is CLEARLY covered in SSI rules. So its odd to me that they can deny someone who has an illness that SSI themselves say they cover. NICE.
We hope to SOMEDAY have a business here in Seaside but not sure if $$ will ever make that happen. We have a couple business ideas and plan to at least write up a business plan for them.
Sorry for the ramble but I figure I would explain my other post.
And now just to show how desperate/serious we are LOL:
If anyone in Seaside knows of a good part-time, easy on the back job...let me know. We are both well trained in admin work and customer service. Joe is a computer wiz for those who don’t already know. He is A+ and MS certified with a degree in networking. He can build, repair, upgrade and set up a network in your home and/or office. He has repaired computers for several local residents and has plenty of references.
For those of you not in Seaside: He is a wiz at websites and database building as well. You can visit Joes resume
